Allen and I had talked about "when we're married" but we had never talked about actually getting married.  So it was a complete surprise when Allen DID propose.  We were away on a little "getaway" to Santa Cruz, hiking in the redwoods.  We stopped for a picnic near this giant tree that had a beautiful view of the ocean.  The fog was just clearing.  As Jack unloaded the picnic goodies from his backpack, the ring box fell out and landed right at my feet!  It wasn't quite how Allen had planned it but it was still very sweet and romantic.  He immediately dropped to his knee, picked up the box and asked me to marry him!
